From My Kitchen: Keeping Brown Sugar Soft |
A handy airtight container and terracotta disk for everyday baking |

One of the handiest things I've found for my kitchen is a brown sugar storage container with a terracotta moisture disk.
If you've ever gone to bake cookies or muffins and discovered your brown sugar has turned into a hard lump, you know how aggravating that can be.
I've been using this kind of container since at least June 2024, and it's one of those simple conveniences I appreciate whenever I bake.
The container has an airtight seal, and the little terracotta disk helps keep moisture in the brown sugar.
To use the disk, soak it in water according to the manufacturer's directions, wipe off any excess water, and place it where the container is designed to hold it.
Re-soak it as directed when needed.
It's a small thing, but having brown sugar that's soft and ready to measure makes baking a little easier.
Equipment From My Kitchen Brown Sugar Storage Container with Terracotta Moisture Disk This is the type of container I use in my own kitchen, and I find it especially handy for baking. Amazon product link: https://link.amazon/B06f9FEwx
