Monte Vista Cleanup Days

Set for September 25–26

It may be time to clean out the garage, shed or backyard. The City of Monte Vista will hold its Monte Vista Cleanup Days on Friday and Saturday, September 25 and 26, giving Monte Vista residents an opportunity to dispose of unwanted items at no charge.

Free dump services for Monte Vista residents will be available at the Public Works Yard, 384 Ski Hi Trail.

Cleanup Days Schedule

Friday, September 25
8:00 AM–4:00 PM

Saturday, September 26
8:00 AM–3:00 PM

Know Before You Load

While Cleanup Days provide an opportunity to get rid of many unwanted items, the City has provided a list of materials that cannot be accepted. Residents should check what they are bringing before loading their vehicles and heading to the Public Works Yard.

Prohibited items include:

  • Hazardous waste, including fuel
  • Radioactive waste
  • Toxic, corrosive, reactive or ignitable waste
  • Batteries and electronics
  • Paint, oil and other waste containing free liquids
  • Refrigerators and other appliances containing refrigerant
  • Tires

One important exception: Automobile batteries will be accepted during the cleanup event.

The City also notes that electronic items cannot be accepted at the landfill. That includes items such as televisions, computers and cell phones.

A Chance to Clean Up Before Fall

Community cleanup days make it easier for residents to dispose of accumulated household debris and larger unwanted items while helping keep neighborhoods and properties throughout Monte Vista looking their best.

Residents planning to participate are encouraged to sort through their items ahead of time and make sure prohibited materials are left out of their load.
