Cumbres Toltec Scenic Railroad Experiences in Antonito Colorado

Antonito, Colorado, is set to host a remarkable journey through time this summer.

 

As part of the official Colorado 150 celebration, the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad proudly presents the Centennial State Limited, a three-day event that honors the state's rich history and the enduring legacy of its railroads.

 

This special excursion offers passengers a unique opportunity to experience the grandeur of the San Juan Mountains aboard historic steam locomotives.

 

The itinerary includes a variety of routes, each showcasing the breathtaking landscapes and engineering marvels of the region.

 

On Friday and Sunday, travelers will embark on a 3.5-hour journey from Antonito to Big Horn Wye and back, featuring the impressive Big Horn Loop.

 

Saturday's adventure is a 6-hour, 55-minute round trip to Osier Station, highlighted by a doubleheader with locomotives 168 and 463, and includes a delightful mountain-side buffet lunch.

 

Passengers will ride in authentic 1880s equipment, including the historic Engine 168, the second-oldest operating steam engine in Colorado.

 

The cars will be adorned with traditional red, white, and blue bunting, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.

 

On-board narration by History Ambassadors will provide insights into Colorado's founding, the silver boom, and the bi-state legacy of the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad.

 

A special historical display at the Antonito Depot offers a perfect photo opportunity to commemorate this unique experience.

 

Tickets for the Friday and Sunday trains are priced at $187.60, while the Saturday Statehood Run, which includes lunch at Osier, is available for $249.00.

 

Each ticket purchase includes a commemorative Centennial State Limited merchandise bundle featuring a challenge coin, mug, and press pass.
