A long-awaited addition to Monte Vista appears to be getting closer to opening its doors.

The new Cobblestone Hotel & Suites, currently under construction at 2351 Sherman Avenue, has announced a series of open interviews in early September as it begins building the staff needed to operate the hotel.

According to a hiring announcement from Cobblestone, the hotel is expected to open in the fall of 2026.

Open interviews will be held nearby at the Ski Hi Complex & Arena, 2335 Sherman Avenue, rather than at the hotel construction site.

Cobblestone says applicants can fill out an application and receive an interview on the spot, although waiting times may vary. After-hours interviews may also be requested by appointment.

Positions currently being advertised include front desk, housekeeping, breakfast attendant and maintenance, with front desk positions covering several shifts throughout the day and overnight.

The hiring announcement represents another significant milestone for a project that has been closely watched in Monte Vista. Construction of the new hotel has been visible along Sherman Avenue near the Ski Hi Complex for months, but the start of employee recruitment provides a much clearer indication that the project is moving toward becoming an operating business.

Once open, the hotel will add another lodging option for visitors to Monte Vista and the western San Luis Valley. Its location near the Ski Hi Complex could be particularly valuable during major community events that bring visitors into town.

No specific grand-opening date has been announced. For now, Cobblestone is saying fall 2026, and the September hiring effort suggests preparations for opening are well underway.

The San Luis Valley Beat will continue following the Cobblestone Hotel project and provide an update when an official opening date is announced.
